32 x 40 x 1 inches framed original oil landscape painting of a dark forest with deer. A group of deer stand in a dark forest with sunlight shining behind them making them into silhouettes. Around them there are intricately weaved twigs and leaves in red, pink, orange and yellow - quite art nouveau in style. Violet and blue lines of energy rise up from the bottom of the forest to where the deer stand. The rest of the painting is dark red and purple which makes the vibrancy of the other colours more pronounced. There is a simple wooden frame around the painting and the paint itself is glossy and thick. The painting was inspired by the life force I often feel in ancient forests.

I am a professional artist based in Sussex and I paint large original landscape and seascape paintings in oil on canvas. I have a Fine Art degree in sculpture (Brighton, 1983) but am mostly self taught as a painter. My painting style is a fusion of Expressionist, Impressionist, Semi-abstract, Art Deco, a little Art Nouveau and whatever mood I am in that day. I often practice a kind of Impressionism in that I walk, look at things and then paint from memory. The result is that I paint what was impressed upon me when I looked at a landscape - thus a kind of Impressionism! (I hope that makes sense).
