Description
Weaving Summer is a 40x40x1,5 inches, large, semi abstract oil on canvas of a summer meadow with swallows. The painting is abstract, contemporary, art nouveau in style and was inspired by sitting in a meadow in Forest Row watching swallows swooping over the wildflowers of this Sussex field. I imagined the swallows were weaving some kind of summer enchantment as they maneuvered around each other and that is why I named it Weaving Summer. Nature performs and the swallows are her little magicians. The painting was created in layers - the first being blurred and blended to give an out of focus look. The next layers are more detailed and hint at wildflowers, buttercups, daisies, clover and long grasses together with the birds who are leaving trails of gold behind them as part of their spell. Summer in England does not last as long as we would like but it is stunningly beautiful and I never tire of walking in fields and painting my impressions of what I see. The painting is ready to hang and has white wide edges so no frame is not needed.
